		    Vermel K. Whittle, 96,  of Hastings, Fla., died Nov. 4, 2007, at Enterprise Nursing Home in Enterprise,  Ala., following an extended illness. Mrs. Whittle was a native and lifelong  resident of Hastings and had moved to Enterprise four years ago from Hastings.  Mrs. Whittle was a 1931 graduate of Hastings High School and was employed with  the Hastings Post Office where she later became Postmistress serving in the  position during the 1950s and the 1960s. She was a member of Mount Olive  Baptist Church in Hastings and was a member of the Eastern Star.
                
		      Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church. 
		      
		      Officiating: The Rev.  Dan Davis. 
		      
		      Calling hours: 1 hour  prior to service Thursday at the church. 
		      
		      Burial: Pellicer Creek Cemetery.
		      
		      Survivors: Her son,  Norman Whittle, Hastings; one brother, Billy King, Jacksonville; one sister,  Myra Masters, Jacksonville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 
  
		      She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Whittle and her parents, Henry  and Alice Yelvington King.
