		    Howard Louis Waltersdorf
		    Howard Louis Waltersdorf, 65, died  March 29, 2009, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center in Jacksonville. He was born May  9, 1943, in Hannibal, Mo., to Herbert and Elna Waltersdorf. 
		    He did his undergraduate work at  Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and his graduate work at the  University of South Dakota. He taught for three years at Tarkio College in  Tarkio, Mo., before moving to Terre Haute, Ind., in 1968. Howard was a  professor of English at Indiana State University from 1968 until his retirement  in 2003. His specialty was literature of the American West. Howard was a very  active member of Terre Haute Community Theatre where he either directed plays  or acted in them. He loved to play golf and was an avid reader. He was a member  of the St. Augustine Men's Golf Association and the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 829. 
		    He was preceded in death by his  second wife, Betty Carter. 
		    He is survived by two sons,  Thomas Howard Waltersdorf and his wife, Angie of Virginia Beach, Va., Michael  John Waltersdorf and his wife, Sara of Gridley, Ill., a stepson, Robert Carter  and his wife, Debbie of Franklin, Tenn., a stepdaughter, Cynthia Banks and her  husband, Eddy of Dublin, Calif.; a brother, Jerre Waltersdorf and his wife,  Judy of Denver; a granddaughter, Leala Waltersdorf, one niece and two nephews. 
		    A graveside service will be held  at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, at Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

		    St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is  in charge of arrangements.
