Elizabeth G. Norton, 95, of Hastings, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Ponce De Leon Care Center in St. Augustine after a long illness.

She was a native of Clanton, Alabama and had lived in Hastings since 1923, before moving to Palatka in 1983. She had previously lived in Gainesville and Alabama. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Hastings and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul V. Norton.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Bateman of Hastings; two brothers, James Gable and Everett Gable, both of Gainesville; four grandchildren, Jody Bateman and Beth Bateman Ryan, both of Satsuma, Luanne Bateman Burton of South Carolina and Paul Bateman of Picolata, Florida; seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, at the Pellicer Creek Cemetery in St. Johns County with Rev. Rudy Howard officiating.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
