Russell E. Dupont, 82, St.  Augustine, died May 3, 2015 at St. Augustine Health and Rehab. He was born in  Bunnell, FL and was a long time resident of St. Augustine. 
  
		      Mr. Dupont joined  the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 during the Korean War  during which he survived a helicopter crash. During his tenure he received the  following decorations: Korean Service Medal with star, United Nations Service  Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Badge,  and Pistol Marksman Badge. 
		      
		      After his service in  the military he worked as a clerk for the railroad until his retirement.  Following his retirement he worked as a historical advisor at Princess Park  Preserve. 
		      
		      He is survived by his  sons, Thomas L. Dupont (Debra), Pensacola, James J. Dupont (Kathy), Robert E.  Dupont, daughter, Katherine Mona Dupont all of St. Augustine; sisters, Melinda  Clemens, St. Augustine, Ruth Romero, Chattanooga, TN, Celia Slack, Palm Coast;  17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. 
		      
		      He was preceded in  death by his wife of 50 years who he met while in Japan, Hiroko Dupont;  sisters, Janet Carroccino, Marjorie Barneschi, and a brother, James Dozier  "J.D." Dupont. 
		      
		      A celebration of his  life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at  Princess Park Preserve. Pastor Ben Tippett from Victory Christian Fellowship in  East Palatka will be presiding.
