Hiroko I. "Koko" Dupont, 76, of St. Augustine, died on Aug. 4, 2009, at Flagler Hospital. She was a native of Kyoto, Japan, and moved to the United States in 1957 after the Korean War. She had resided in St. Augustine since 1963.

Mrs. Dupont was a gifted seamstress and dressmaker. She worked for Lui-M and Taylor Von Ottovan Fashions for many years. Many of the dresses that she created were sent to New York to be displayed as new dress lines for fashion buyers. She also worked as a supervisor and head seamstress for Marriotti's. "Koko" achieved her citizenship in 1984 and often used her Japanese language skills to interpret for Judge Dick Watson in court proceedings.

Mrs. Dupont is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Dupont and his wife, Debra, of Meridian, Miss., James J. Dupont and his wife, Katherine, and Robert Dupont and his wife, Dawn, all of St. Augustine; her daughter, Kathy Dupont of St. Augustine; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brad Word officiating. Interment will follow at Pellicer Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully accepted.
