BEVERLY BEACH - James Orms­by Scott, 84, of Monitor Drive, a retired home construction builder in New York, died Thursday at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine.

Mr. Scott was born in South Africa and moved to this area early this year from Center Moriches, N.Y. He was a member of the Merchant Marines and served in combat during World War II. Mr. Scott was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, Flagler Beach, the American Legion and the Mari­time Association. He enjoyed hunting, boating and rugby.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years Constance; a daughter Suzanne Lyons, Flagler Beach; and five grandsons.

Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.
