Bert Rutledge, 92 of Palm Coast passed away August 12, 2022 at his home with his family at his side.

Mr. Rutledge was born November 15, 1929 in New York City, son of Leslie and Lillian Rutledge. Mr. Rutledge spent 54 years on the road as a truck driver transporting cargo, including “hazmat” to various installations. Early in his trucking career he joined the Army National Guard where he also drove trucks, serving honorably for 4 years.

In 1996 he and his wife became permanent residents of Palm Coast. His memberships included the Elks Club, Palm Coast Gun Club. He is a past member of Temple Beth Shalom where he was the 2nd Vice President. Bert enjoyed reading, going to the gun range, exercising, and working on cars but his greatest love was spending time with his beloved wife, family and dogs.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Janet Rosalie Rutledge in January of 2022.

Survivors include three children, Suzanne (John) O’Meally; Tim (Patty) Rutledge and Dan (Rebecca) Rutledge, six grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Dylan (Brianna), Alexandra, August, and Lauren, one great grandchild, Xander, and his dog, Boomer. Donations may be made in his memory to your local Humane Society. Bert will be forever remembered for being the best Husband, Father and Grandfather.

A graveside service for Bertram will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Flagler Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136.
