PALM COAST - Richard A. Overby, 90, who retired in 1979 as a welder with Dorel Steel, died Friday at Concord Loving Care.

Born in Mecklenburg, Va., Mr. Overby came here in 1979 from Taunton, Mass. He also was a welder for New York Shipbuilding Co. and the General Dynamics Corp., Groton, Conn. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Palm Coast, Messiah Baptist Church, Brockton, Mass., and Church of all Nations, Taunton. Mr. Overby was a graduate of Wentworth Institute and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ellen; two sons, Frederick, Binghamton, N.Y., and Rodney, Philadelphia; a daughter, Eve, Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
