Carl A. Hendren, long time resident of the Flagler Beach area, died in Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine Tuesday evening about 10 o’clock. Mr. Hendren was 71 years of age and had been an invalid for many years.

A native of Lexington, Ky., Mr. Hendren came to Flagler Beach 24 years ago, residing on Ocean Shore Boulevard north of Flagler Beach where he established the first business at what is now the Carillet tourist court.

Selling out the court about 10 years ago he moved to Flagler Beach and was in business for several years, retiring a few years ago.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Flagler Beach Community Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Lee officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, with Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. May Hendren, Flagler Beach; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Crotty of Miami; one sister, Miss Nell Hendren of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Clyde Hendren of Flagler Beach and Emmett Hendren of Nicholasville, Ky.; a grandson, Jimmy Hargett of Palatka and a great-granddaughter, Sherry Hargett.

Pallbearers are L. S. Cody, George Kendall, Clyde Lewis, Walter Knight, Phillip Johnson and D. D. Moody.
