Robert Emery Brooks of Mims passed away early Friday morning at the Bunnell General Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Brooks was born in Green Cove Springs and resided in Bunnell about 30 years before going to Mims. He was 55 years of age.

He was a member of Bunnell Masonic Lodge 200, the Jacksonville Consistory, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union 673 of Jacksonville. He was employed at Cape Kennedy.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edelle Brooks of Mims; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Brooks of Bunnell; a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Hunter of Green Cove Springs; a son, Robert E. Brooks, Jr., of Mims; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Woods of Bunnell and Mrs. Dee Decker of Daytona Beach; two brothers, Shelton Brooks of Bunnell and Adolph Brooks of Lake Worth; a granddaughter, Melba June Hunter of Green Cove Springs.

Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist Church of Bunnell. Rev. Joseph Boatright of the First Baptist Church of Mims officiated.

Pallbearers were Gene Barber, Earl Rice, C. B. Eisenbach, Duane Deen, Ray Carle, and P. A. Edmonson, all from Bunnell. All members of the Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200 and the Indian River Lodge No. 90 of Titusville were honorary pallbearers.

Interment followed at Hope Cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by the Masonic Lodges of Bunnell and Mims.
