James P. "Pat" Tidwell, 61, Gaithersburg, Md., a member of one of Flagler County's pioneer families, died July 30 in Gaithersburg, following a long illness.

Mr. Tidwell was born in Georgia and was reared and attended schools in Flagler County. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include three brothers, William, Flagler Beach, Jack, Valdosta, Ga., and Harry, Houston; and three sisters, Muriel Hawel, Santa Barbara, Calif., Barbara Tidwell, Flagler Beach, and Frances Capps, Panama City.
