		      William Ray Thompson, 79, of New  Smyrna Beach, died May 2, 2005, at his sister’s residence in St. Augustine. Mr.  Thompson was born in Waycross, Ga., and resided in St. Augustine for many years  before moving to New Smyrna Beach. 
		      
		      Thompson was a veteran of World  War II serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Locally, he had worked on shrimp boats  and at Marineland and had worked for the Coronado Paint Company in New Smyrna  for the past 25 years.
		      
		      Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at  Espanola Cemetery in Bunnell. 
		      
		      Officiating: Pastor John Tanner. 
		      
		      Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday  at Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home. 
		      
		      Survivors: His wife, Shirley  Thompson, New Smyrna; one son, Kenneth Smith, New Smyrna; one sister, Martha  May Apeler, St. Augustine; and two granddaughters.
