James Alfred McDowall Jr., 86, of Jacksonville, former resident of Bunnell, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born on August 9, 1922 in Miami, FL to the late James A. and Lota A. (Holland) McDowall.

James worked as a Truck Driver, and he enjoyed building model airplanes. He was a member of the American Model Association and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell.

James is survived by his son, James A. McDowall III of Jacksonville; his daughters, Diana McCraney and her husband Carlie of Jacksonville, Frances Henretty of Clarion, PA, and Amy Caufield of Norwich, NY; his sister Rosa Cowan of Orlando, FL; his 12 grandchildren and his 12 great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife Faye McDowall and his daughter Donna Weigand.

Burial will take place at a later date at Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, FL.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of James to the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32119.
