		    W. R. Malphurs, pioneer resident of Flagler County, died at  his home in the St. Johns Park section Sunday evening, January 14, at 9:45,  following an illness of two weeks duration.
		    Mr. Malphurs was 73 years of age. He was born in Clay County  but resided in Flagler County over fifty years. He took an active part in  developing Flagler County, being actively identified in many of the progressive  movements during the early days of the county. He served as a member of the  Flagler County School Board for several years.
		    Mr. and Mrs. Malphurs celebrated their golden wedding  anniversary at their home in February of 1987. Besides his widow, Mrs. Nora  Malphurs, he is survived by one son, F. L. Malphurs, and one grandson, Ralph  Harbert of Flagler County. He is also survived by two sisters and three  brothers; Mrs. Martha Priest of Delray Beach; Mrs. Matilda Richardson of St.  Augustine; D. W. Malphurs and Berry Malphurs of Ormond, and Ernest Malphurs of  Pahokee, Florida.
		    Funeral services were held at the graveside in the Espanola  Cemetery Wednesday morning with Rev. Charlie Davis of Balm, Florida, in charge.  McCabe Funeral Home of St. Augustine was in charge of arrangements.
		    Active pallbearers were Oliver Wynn, Sol King, French  McCrammy, John Tedder, Elmer Brooks, and Joe Fralish.
		    Honorary were: J. H. McKnight, Sr., Z. G. Holland, E. P.  Pellicer, Robert Hamilton, Sr.; Joe Harding, and E. A. Hunter.

		    It was announced this week by F. L. Malphurs that a memorial  song service for his father, who was buried last week, will be held Sunday,  January 28, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Primitive Baptist Church on West Tomoka  Avenue at Ormond.
		    All friends of the family are invited to attend the service.
