Pfc. John Kinney, 22.year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Kinney of Bunnell, died of wounds received in Korea September 9, the family was officially notified this week.

Private Kinney, the first son from Flagler County to lose his life in the Korean conflict, entered the army last December, and had been in Korea some time before his death.

He was a native of Wooster, Ohio, but moved to Flagler County with his parents about five years ago.

In addition to his parents, Soldier Kinney is survived by an only sister, Mrs. Phyllis Barber, of Bunnell.

Private funeral service is being held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine, for John Arden Kinney, killed in action in Korea last fall.

The service at the funeral will be conducted by Rev. Herman Murdock, Past Department Chaplain of the Florida American Legion. Burial will be at Espanola Cemetery, with full military committal service in charge of Flagler Post 115 of the American Legion.

Kinney, 22 years old at his death, was born October 11, 1928, and was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Kinney of Bunnell. He, with his family came here several years ago from Wooster, Ohio, finishing his high school work in Bunnell.

Kinney entered the Army on December 8, 1950, going overseas shortly after completing basic training.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arden B. Kinney and a sister, Mrs. Phyllis Barber, all of Bunnell.
