Melvin was born April 2nd, 1927 and departed this life December 25th, 1928 at six o’clock, Tuesday afternoon.

At the age of four months, little Melvin has a very serious attack of illness, from which he never fully recovered. He was a great sufferer, yet he grew and developed into a large and beautiful baby. His unwell condition demanded the close attention and most careful nursing. He was the heart of the home, and his devoted parents gave up all of the outside activities of life to bless and comfort their darling baby.

All that loved one, friends, and skilled physicians could do was done for little Melvin but, God in his infinite goodness and mercy saw fit to take him. His going away brought deep grief to the hearts of his parents, but in the midst of their grief, that have said, “not my will, but Thy will be done.”

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at two thirty o’clock Wednesday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the Espanola Cemetery.

The Boy Scouts of Bunnell (of which Mr. Fuller is the Scoutmaster) served as pallbearers. Six of the larger boys were active pallbearers, while all of the others served as honorary pallbearers.

I cannot say, and I will not say that he is dead – he is just away; with a cherry smile and a wave of the hand, he has wandered into an unknown land.

And you, oh, you, who the wildest yearns, for the old time step and the glad return.

Think of him, as fairing on, as dear in the love of there, as in the love here.

Think of him still as the same, I say, he is not dead, he is just away.
