BUNNELL – Ruby C. Cody, 84, 704 Howe St., a teacher before her retirement, died Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, after a long illness.

Mrs. Cody was born in Neponset, Ill., and moved to Bunnell 63 years ago from her birthplace. She taught school for two years at Bunnell Elementary School and then taught at Seabreeze from 111927 to 1947 when she retired. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bunnell; United Daughters of the Confederacy; Haw Creek Women’s Club; and the National Retired Teachers Association of Flagler and Volusia counties.

Survivors include a son, Richard “Dick” Cody, Bunnell; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
