Marianne Irish, 57, passed away June 28, 2009, from cancer.

Born Mary Anne Steflik on Sept. 18, 1951, to Betty and Michael Steflik in St. Augustine, Fla., she was raised in Flagler County, Fla.

Imaginative and talented, Marianne was an artist, poet and former mental health therapist through Providence Health Systems. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Tampa, Tampa, Fla. She moved to Colorado, then to Oregon where she received her Master of Science in counselor education from Portland State University. From 2002 she spent her time between Portland and Kauai, Hawaii. She loved nature, so she devoted her time and resources to saving the environment, in particular marine life and mammals.

Marianne is survived by her two sisters, Mechele S. Conklin of Tallahassee, Fla. and Bette Steflik of Portland; and nephew and niece, Christopher Conklin and Grace Conklin. Her life touched many people and she will be missed.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in her name may be made to: Ocean Conservancy, Nature Conservancy, the Oregon Humane Society or Malama na Honu (Protect the Turtles).

Marianne Irish, 57, passed away June 28, 2009 from cancer. Ms. Irish was born Mary Anne Steflik on September 18, 1951 to Betty and Michael Steflik in St. Augustine, FL. She was raised in Flagler County, FL.

Imaginative and talented, Marianne was an artist, poet, and former mental health therapist through Providence Health Systems. After obtaining a BA in English from University of Tampa, Tampa, FL, she traveled to Colorado then moved to Oregon where she received her MS in counselor education from Portland State University. From 2002 she spent her time between Portland, OR and Kauai, HI. Her love for nature prompted her to devote her time and resources to saving the environment, in particular marine life and mammals.
