Daniel J. Rodgers, 83, Bunnell, passed away on May 28, 2009. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m.

Born to A.C. and Pauline Rodgers in Bunnell on April 4, 1926, he went on to join the Army after graduating high school and continued to work for the Department of Defense for a career as a civilian employee after receiving his Honorable Discharge. During his service with the Department of Defense he was stationed in Tokyo, Japan from 1946 to 1958, Pusan, South Korea from 1958 to 1967, Pine Bluff, Arkansas from 1967 to 1969 and Taegu, South Korea from 1967 to 1974. He retired at the rank of GS-13 as Director of Supply and Services out of Pine Bluff and in 1988, he and his wife of 47 years, Dae, retired back to his home town of Bunnell. He was an avid bird hunter, skeet shooter, fisherman, gardener, and woodcraftsman.

Aside from his loving wife, he is also survived by sons, Andrew, Sylva, N.C. and James (Doretta) of Pine Bluff; daughter, Nancy Rodgers, Bunnell; sisters, Sara and Beverly Rodgers, DeLand and June Smith, Cocoa; brother, John, Bunnell; and one step grandson.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
