HOLLAND, HAZEL H - - Funeral service for Hazel H. Holland, 91, who died peacefully at home, Sunday, Oct 13, 2002, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct 18, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church, Bunnell. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 17 and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Holland was a retired teacher who taught generations of Flagler County residents. She retired in 1973 after 37 years of service. Mrs. Holland was born in High Springs, FL. She came to Bunnell to live with a sister and finish school after the death of her mother. She left to attend FSCW (FSU), returning to begin a career in teaching.

She married Z. D. Holland, a member of a pioneer Flagler County family. Mrs Holland possessed a lifelong love of learning. She was an avid reader, an active member of professional organizations and genealogical research groups, and retained a keen interest in history and politics. Mrs Holland was a charter member of the American Association of University Women, Old Kings Highway Chapter, DAR, member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, life time member of Florida Retired Educators Association, member of the UDC, Bunnell Pioneers Historical Group, First Baptist Church of Bunnell, and the XYZ club of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Zelda Deen, Intercession City, and Mrs. Hilda Knight, Lake Charles, LA; two sons Cary and Kent and wives, Connie and Kathy, whom she loved as daughters; four grandchildren, David and wife Toni, Jason and girlfriend Jennifer, Garrad, Staci and husband Josh; one great-grandchild, Zachary and many nieces, nephews and friends, whom she dearly loved.

The family expresses great appreciation to Dr. John Canakaris and to the care givers who have assisted Mrs. Holland. Memorials may be made to the church or charity of you choice of the Delta Kappa Gamma Rho Chapter Scholarship Fund, 403 Tennis Lane, Lake Mary, FL 32746.
