John L. Swain of Bunnell died Tuesday evening in the local hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Swain was born in Baxley, Ga., but had resided in Florida since 1900.

He resided in Bunnell for many years before going to Waycross, Ga. to reside in 1955. He returned here several months ago and resided at his home on North Pine St. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a retired brick mason. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Swain is survived by his wife, Effie of Bunnell; three daughters, Mrs. Winnie Thibodaux of New Orleans; Mrs. Madonna Tyler, Kingston, N. Y.; and Mrs. Zelpha Thore of Chalmette, La.; two sons, E. V. Swain, Sr., of New Smyrna Beach, and John M. Swain of Waresboro, Ga.; two sisters, Lily Hinson of Thomasville, Ga. and Suzy Pollard of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother in law, John Campbell of Bunnell. Thirty-two grandchildren and thirty-two great- grandchildren also survive.

Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell is in charge of local ar­rangements. The remains will be forwarded to Darling Funeral Home in Blackshear, Ga., where funeral services will be held at 3:30 Friday afternoon. Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
