Mrs. Bessie Smith Deen, 77, Ocala, widow of Adolph Deen, Flagler County's first Tax Assessor, died Wednesday in Ocala.

She moved to Bunnell it 1909 from Baxley, Ga. and resided here until 1930.

Survivors include two sons, John Deen, Ocala; and Geo. E. Deen, Lake Park, Florida; a sister, Mrs. O. J. Barbee, Waycross, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday at Bunnell Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Kinder, Clermont officiated. Rev. Oliver Taylor, pastor, assisted.

Interment was at Espanola Cemetery.
