John R. Preer, Sr., 81, 1860 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach, passed away Sunday at Ormond Beach Home Medical Center.

Born in Opelika, Ala. he moved to Flagler Beach 27 years ago from Ocala. He was a retired hardware merchant and owned Preer's Gift Shop at Flagler Beach. He was a member of Bunnell First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, John, Jr., Bloomington, Indiana; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Phoenix City, Ala.

Craig Funeral Home, Bunnell, was in charge of local arrangements.
