		  Funeral  services for Senator Verle A. Pope were Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Augustine, with the  Rev. Michael Boss officiating. Internment was in Evergreen Cemetery  beside his wife Edith, who died in 1961. Hundred of mourners filled the church  with many standing outside to pay their respects to the former senator who  served 24 years in the Florida Legislature.           
		  Sen.  Pope was selected as “most valuable senator” in 1955 and named the “most  valuable Legislator” and served as president of the Senate from 1967 to 1968.
              
  He  is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Richard O. Watson;  a sister, Mrs. Wanda Pope Wilson and a  brother, Eugene “Neil” Pope of St    Augustine.
              
  Pallbearers  were, Gov. Ruebin Askew, former Gov. Leroy Collins, Doyle E. Carlton, Jr, Toony  Matien, Ed Price and John Purcell. State Rep. Gus Craig, St Augustine, was in charge of funeral  arrangements.
