THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
	        Bunnell, Florida
	        Thursday, January 31, 1924

Word was received from E. R. Payntor of Brooklyn, N. Y. that he was expecting the remains of his father, Abraham Payntor, who died in St. Augustine Jan. 12.
Abraham Payntor came to Florida from New York fortyfive years ago, filed on a homestead the same year and never returned to his native state. He lived a sort of hermit life for years, taking care of his homestead and planting an orange grove and raising enough vegetables for his own use until a few years later he was joined by his brothel William and Isaac who lived with him until their death, both occurring in Florida and one of them being buried on the old homestead.
The homestead contains one hundred and sixty acres and extends from the ocean to west of the canal where the orange grove and the home are situated.
Mr. Payntor was 81 years old and has two children living in New York and with his demise one of the pioneers and interesting characters of Flagler county pass from our view and of whom only kind words and expressions of sympathy can go out to his son and daughter in New York.
