Sergeant First Class Barton D. Asa, Jr., 44, Baumholder, West Germany, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 18th,in West Germany. He was born in Louisville, Tenn. and moved to Flagler County at an early age.

He served 25 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is a member of Flagler Post No. 115 of The American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Fusako Asa, Baumholder, West Germany; mother, Mrs. Alice Murdock, Flagler Beach; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Fitzhugh Malphurs, Flagler Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

Military services will be held Thursday, March 30th, at 11 a.m. at Craig Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Volusia Memorial Park at Ormond Beach.
