AUDREY JEANETTE ALBRITTON
(Mrs. Carl Hiram Durrance)
(c 1931 – 23 JAN 1951)

Thursday, January 11, 1951 - - Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Durrance both are in Flagler hospital in St. Augustine suffering from burns sustained early today when a stove exploded in their home.

Mrs. Audrey Durrance, 21-yearold wife and mother is in critical condition and may not live. Mr. Durrance, 30 years old, is in serious condition but not critical, it was reported here by members of the family.

Their 30-months-old baby girl, Connie, was burned only slightly and is considered unhurt.

From information obtainable, it is concluded that Mrs. Durrance attempted to start a fire in a stove with either kerosene or gasoline, setting off the explosion that injured the family and burned the Durrance home and contents to the ground. The couple lived a few miles inside the St. Johns County line north of Bunnell and west of U. S. Highway 1.

Although suffering from severe burns, Mr. Durrance put his wife in a truck and took her to the highway where a friend carried the couple to the hospital.

Doctors who attended Mrs. Durrance sent word to residents of Flagler county that a lot of blood is needed to replace that taken from the Flagler County Bank to give to Mrs. Durrance. Volunteers are urgently needed, it was said.

Mrs. Durrance's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Albritton who live at Bowling, Green, Florida, were contacted through the Florida Patrol with Patrolman N. N. Kavouklis here making the contacts.

Mr. Durrance's parents live here.
