CHARLES WINFIELD AKINS
(06 SEP 1878 – 22 MAY 1944)

Thursday, May 25, 1944 - - Charley W. Akins, 66-year-old resident of St. Johns Park Community of Flagler County died Monday morning, May 22 at his home after an illness of several months.

Mr. Akins was a life-long resi­dent of this section, and has resided for many years at the place of his death.

He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Charley Brown of Bunnell, Mrs. J. R. Walton of Wooster, Ohio, and Mrs. Ed Allerton of Amarillo, Texas. Also two sons, Charles and George Akins, both of whom are members of the United States Navy and are in the South Pa­cific theatre. Also three sisters and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at Espanola cemetery with the McCabe Funeral Home of St. Augustine in charge. Pallbearers were John Buckles, Rudye Shamblen, Frank Mercer, Dale B. Brown, Henry Wells and Eddie Pellicer.
