William Dilworth Middleton, son of Dr William Spencer Middleton and Mary Ann Drawdy was born 03 Apr 1851 in Hortense, Wayne CO, GA, died 14 Jul 1916, GA , married 18 Jan 1872, Martha Matilda Horton, dau of George Washington Horton and Abby (Appy) Howard, born 25 Nov 1854, Wayne CO, GA, died 08 May 1903, GA. Both buried Town Cemetery, Hortense, Brantley CO, GA.
In Jan 1897, William Dilworth Middleton and his family came to Shell Bluff, St Johns, now Flagler CO, FL and were engaged in the turpentine business. They then moved to Pomoma Park, Putnam CO, FL and were enumerated in the 1900 census there.
In 1902 Mr and Mrs Middleton and the younger children returned to Hortense, GA. W. D. Middleton and his first wife were the parents of ten children;

Robert Clester Middleton, born 16 Nov 1876, Hortense, Wayne CO, GA, died 27 Nov 1944, Crescent City, Putnam CO, FL, married Helen (Nellie) Cook, dau of Captain Charles Cook, born 01 Apr 1881, Quincy, Adams CO, IL, died Jun 1967, Volusia CO, FL. Both buried Eden Cemetery, Crescent City, Putnam CO, FL.
He worked in the naval store business in Pomona Park, moved to Crescent City and was engaged in the citrus industry and wholesale oil business. He served as councilman and mayor of Crescent City, as a school trustee, in the state legislature in 1933. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Shrine.
She applied for a passport on 26 Oct 1918 for the purpose of Red Cross Service in Great Britain and France

He worked in naval stores, farmed, in real estate and owner of a general merchandise store. He served as a Putnam County Commissioner, school trustee for the Pomona Park schools and as mayor of the town. Fannie was a music teacher and organist for the Congregational church. Issue;

He was employed as general manager of George A Lewis Chervolet and Wilton Motors. He then owned and operated Middleton Chevrolet and Bethel Garage.
In 1950, he moved from the Danbury/Bethel area to New Faifield, CT. He was elected to the position of New Fairfield tax collector and held that position from 1979 to 1993.

He graduated from Crescent City High School in 1936 and later joined the US Marines and served his country during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for action at Iwo Jima.
He worked as a rural mail carrier in Palatka for many years. After his retirement from the US Postal Service, he worked as a building contractor and electrician. He served on the town council and as mayor. Issue;
